Composite KPI Invalid Provider Class

I have created a Composite KPI pointing to two (2) base KPI's as a provider data.  While on the Provider screen and first selecting the KPI's, type text box has a value of KPI.  When I page off the provider screen and come back it has unknown type in it.  When I run the kpi it gets an error "Invalid Provider Class".  does anyone know if this is a known bug?
